Chic petite AMIE: Meet Camille of Charmed by Camille

LA based fashion blogger Camille launched Charmed by Camille after leaving her job in fashion and it didn’t take long for her admirers like us to find her. She mixes classic pieces with boho elements effortlessly. She also has one of those captivating and happy personalities that you can’t help but love! Today, she shares with petite AMIE her rules for dressing, life in LA and of course her wish list in this fall season.

Camille, tell us more about yourself and Charmed by Camille.

Sure! I started Charmed by Camille almost 2 years ago. I had just left a full-time gig in the fashion industry and switched over to beauty, so I think starting this blog was a way for me to still be connected with that world, without having to work in it via a desk job.

You have said that fall is your favorite season, what is on your wish list for this upcoming fall?

Yes, I LOVE fall. I’m currently in love with anything velvet. I think it’s great that people are starting to accept the material beyond just something for a holiday party.

We know that you love jeans. What’s your best advice for petite girls to find the perfect jeans?

My number one tip would be to avoid anything that has a detail at the bottom unless they come in different inseams. I always love jeans with a zipper detail or even pants with a fun lace up or snap, but you can’t ever hem them.

What is a must-have for all petite girls out there?

I actually love a mini skirt with a pair of heeled sandals because it makes my legs look much longer than they are!

What’s your favorite brand?

When I want to splurge on myself, particularly in the fall, I always look at Vince sweaters. I don’t think they make a single itchy sweater. When I want a luxurious t-shirt I always buy T by Alexander Wang. For every day, I love Madewell. They’re really mastered the “put together without really trying” easy aesthetic.

Who is your main fashion inspiration?

There’s really not one particular person that I look to for this. In the summer when I feel more boho then nobody does easy California style better than Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules. Kate Moss always looks cool, and I love Nicole Richie.

You live in Los Angeles. What are your favorite places to eat and things to do in LA?

I love going on short hikes with my husband, Matt. It’s really easy to get “stuck” in Los Angeles so sometimes it’s nice to take a short drive and hike above it all. It’s a nice break from everything. I love food! I’m always searching for new places but some of my favorites are: Jon & Vinny’s, Osteria La Buca and Mercado. If I want an easy night out – we go to Village Pizza. It’s delicious! And for a sweet treat I love The Bigg Chill frozen yogurt.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop in LA?

One of my favorite stores that I would ALWAYS shop at in NYC just opened in Los Angeles – Aritzia! I love shopping there. The space is beautiful and I love their easy, minimal styles. I’m actually a big online shopper, because I hate driving from place to place in LA… haha, oops!

Where did you go for your last vacation? What did you pack for that trip?

My last TRUE vacation was this past June when I went to Cabo San Lucas. Luckily, that’s a pretty easy type of vacation to pack for, so I had a lot of swim suits, corresponding cover-ups, and breezy maxi dresses.

Words you live by or quotes you love?

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” It’s a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, but my mom always says it to me when I need a reminder about life. I also heard one time that if you do what you love, it’ll never feel like work. I’ve always been a big believer in that. I don’t want to work at my full-time desk job forever, but I’ve always only ever taken a job that really made me excited, not ever because it was a job that paid the bills.

Ready for a round of quick fire questions? Do you prefer…

- heels or flats? Oh, I LOVE heels but I’m a disaster walking in them so I’m usually in flats.

- mini or maxi? Mini!

- bikini or one piece? Bikini, because I don’t like a one-piece tan line.

- earrings or necklace? Necklace. I have my ears pierced and can’t remember the last time I wore a pair of earrings.

- perfect hair or perfect makeup? Probably perfect hair. Even when I wear makeup it’s super minimal.
